January 30, 2007 - Kingdom Harmony Debut CD -
"Your will be done"
for sale on CD Baby
<PAID ADVERTISEMENT>
Kingdom Harmony was formed by pianist Nicholas Grier from members of various churches in Atlanta. While in college, he wrote songs to express the pain he went through, but didn’t have the voice to deliver the message. Years later while at Martin Street Church of God, he began to select members of their choir for the group. He later added other members to complete the group and began doing concerts.

While performing Nick considered to do an EP release, but felt he couldn’t. Shortly after he was contacted by Psalms of Praise writing team Micah and Jamica Dobbins who helped bring the vision to reality. While making plans for the Album Nick created music to one of the songs that Jamica wrote. This collaboration was then added to the CD.

Their album, “Your Will Be Done” is an excellent choice for anyone who is in need of a touch of gospel inspiration to help them get through life’s troubles. We all have times where we need to worship God despite the circumstances and trials that we are up against. Kingdom Harmony ushers the listener in with tracks like “Celebrate” and “I Press”. Then there are songs of reflection like “Jesus Came For Me” and “Your Wisdom”. No matter what you are going through in life, this album reminds us that we do have a friend in Jesus.
Credits: The members of Kingdom Harmony Choir are as followed: sopranos - Kim Abrams, Monica Johnson, Kim Render; altos – Carmia Robinson, Princilla Hawkins; tenors – Byron Mims, Jadon Relaford; bass – Jonathan Long; drums – Andre Dennis, percussion - Darrell Hunter; keyboards – Philip Adair and Nicholas Grier. The executive producers for this independent label project are Micah Dobbins and Nicholas Grier .

The album was recorded and mixed by Chuck Jopski at SummerHouse Studio in Hoschton, GA & Mastered by Michael Sublett at IEC Soundlab A Recording Studio in Austell, GA. Songwriters and producers for the project include: Jamica Dobbins of Psalms of Praise Music, Andre Dennis and Nicholas Grier.

January 28, 2007 - BB King released from the hospital in Texas
B.B. King, who was checked into a Galveston, Texas hospital on Jan. 28, 2007 for treatment of a 100.4 degree fever, was released on the 29th and was “back to his old self,” as reported to the Associated Press by a spokeswoman from his management agency.

King, who suffers from diabetes, is a national spokesman in the fight against diabetes and was awarded with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George Bush in December 2006.

B.B. King with his trademarked Gibson guitar, “Lucille” performs regularly throughout the U.S. and abroad.  The 81-year old, “King of the Blues” is scheduled to perform on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in Fort Worth, Texas.  Due to his age and his health condition, future tour dates that were scheduled in Galveston, Orange and Tyler, Texas will be rescheduled.
B.B. started playing guitar on the cotton fields of Mississippi back in the 40s and his musical legacy can be credited with inspiring the likes of everyone from Jimi Hendrix to John Mayer.
His extensive music catalog includes the following hits: “Everyday I have the blues”, “The Thrill is Gone”, “You Upset me Baby”, “Three O’Clock Blues” and “Payin’ the cost to be the boss”.

In 1991, B.B. King opened up B.B. King’s Blues Club on Beale Street in Memphis; a second club in 1994, at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles;  and, a third club in 2000 in New York City’s Times Square.  King received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987 and honorary doctorates from Tougaloo (MS) College in 1973; Yale University in 1977;  Berklee College of Music in 1982;  Rhodes College of Memphis in 1990 and Mississippi Valley State University in 1990.

January 28, 2007 - Music industry arrests/jail news (Busta Rhymes, DJ Drama-DJ Don Cannon, Young Buck, Mystical etc.)

On January 3, 2007
in Manhattan, New York, rapper Busta Rhymes turned himself in to police after receiving a warrant for allegedly attacking a former employee (Eddie Hatchett) of his over a dispute over money last year on December 26, 2006.

Busta Rhymes, who is currently free on $3,500 bail, was charged with third-degree assault (Misdemeanor) and is scheduled to appear before Manhattan criminal court judge, Neil Ross on February 20, 2007.

We will keep you posted on this case, as it unfolds…….

On January 16, 2007
in Atlanta, GA, Tyree Simmons aka “DJ Drama” and Donald Cannon aka “DJ Don Cannon” were taken into custody by SWAT team and RIAA anti-piracy agents for music counterfeiting.

During the raid, which took place at their office on 147 Walker Street in downtown Atlanta, 18 employees were detained for questioning and about 50,000 illegal cds were confiscated.  Authorities also confiscated recording equipment, computers, cars, money and bank statements.  Also, the website, where they advertised and placed orders for their cds was officially shut down.

DJ Drama and Cannon are both members of the six member, Aphiliates DJ crew and work part-time at a local radio station part-time on the weekends.  DJ Drama is best known in the industry for his popular Gangsta Grillz mixtape series and tours with rapper T.I. as his official DJ.

A lot of people ask the following question, “What is the problem with mixtapes?”  That answer is simple, it is illegal to sell the copyrighted works of others without their permission and/or a license.  And if you obtain a permission, which is usually in the form of a license, the law states that you must list the name(s) of the copyright owner on the cover of the cd, dvd or other medium that you are selling to the public.  And, as in this case, if you try to sell mixtapes that contain the copyrighted works of others without legal permission, you are in direct violation of anti-piracy and copyright laws.  So if you want to stay clear of running into trouble like DJ Drama and DJ Cannon, do either of the following: (1) Record and sell music using copyrights that you own;  or (2) contact the publishers and/or labels and request a license prior to trying to make money off of other people’s music without their permission.

Tell us what you think about this situation:

Do you think it is fair or unfair for people to illegally sell mix-tapes on the street or internet that use the copyrighted works of individuals without their permission and that the copyright owners don’t profit from?  Please give us reasons for your answer.

On January 26, 2007 in Nashville, Tennessee, David Darnell Brown, aka “Young Buck” who records for 50 Cent’s G-Unit record label, was arrested in Nashville on a warrant for failing to appear in court on driving violations.

Authorities stopped Young Buck after they saw him weaving back and forth in traffic in his Black Cadillac Escalade.   After his arrest, Young Buck was released on $1,000 bail and scheduled to appear in court on February 27, 2007 to address his charges.

In July 2005, Young Buck received a ticket for driving with a suspended license.  Also, in December 2005, he was sentenced to three years probation for stabbing a man who attacked his producer, Dr. Dre at the 2004 Vibe Awards show.

Also - Rapper Mystical has not been freed from prison.
Despite reports that Louisiana rapper, Mystical had been released from a Louisiana federal penitentiary, his label rep has officially stated that his previous release status refers to federal misdemeanor tax conviction from January 2006.

Mystical, whose real name is Michael L. Tyler, still remains in the Elayne Hunt Correctional Facility serving a six-year sentence for sexual battery and extortion.  Back in 2004, Mystical was accused of forcing his hairstylist to perform oral sex on him and other members of his entourage after he accused her of stealing $80,000 from him.
