TRANSCRIPT OF IEC EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH PRODUCER COREY BURDEN

IEC: What’s going on with you Corey?
CB: Nothing much, what's good.
IEC: How long have you been producing music?
CB: I've been doing it for over six years.
IEC: Is there anything that you do in order to get into groove mode prior to making music?
CB: Not really, it's been times where I have woke up and started on a track, it’s just in me.
IEC: I heard, you just graduated from Omnitech Technical Institute with a certificate in Music Engineering, tell us a little bit about that experience?
CB: It wasn't an easy road, I learned a lot. A lot of times I just wanted to get it over with, but I wouldn’t trade my knowledge for the world.
IEC: Name one individual from OmniTech Technical Institute who had the biggest impact on you and why?
CB: There wasn’t just one person, every teacher had an impact on what I learned.
IEC: Who are some of the producers who have mostly influenced your style?
CB: I'll give you a short list. Just Blaze, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Pharrell, Timbaland, Jazzy Phae and Primo, just
to name a few.
IEC: What studios have you worked out of?
CB: Dreammaker Studios-Atlanta, GA (Intern), Studio 229-Albany, GA, also did my share of going to home studios, alot of times its better going there than the big spots.
IEC: Name some of the artists that you are going to be working with in 2009?
CB: I got projects coming up with Rock City, Akon's new group, but this year I might take a new approach
and do projects for myself.
IEC: What programs/equipment do you use when producing tracks?
CB: Mainly Propellerhead Reason, FL Studio, Akai MPK49 with an endless list of sounds.
IEC: Are you signed to a production company or are you considered a freelance producer?
CB: Right now I am freelance, I might just end up starting my own production company.
IEC: If artists would like to work with you, what do they have to do to get in contact with you?
CB: It’s not hard, just hit me up 404-422-0811, my email is elicaesar@gmail.com. I'm not hard to find and I'm not hiding from anybody either.
IEC: Name some of the stumbling blocks that you have encountered in the music industry and what you have
done to overcome them?
CB: I had to learn to keep going because there is always a door that's going to be open when the one
before it closed.
IEC: Lastly, did you find that going to school to learn the technical aspects of your craft helped you advance your engineering/production/mixing skills?
CB: Oh yeah, with some producers/engineers that's out now, they learned under somebody, and I didn't have that. So I had to get it for myself.
IEC: Is there anything that we didn’t cover that you would like our audience to know about Corey Burden? If so, let them know now.
CB: Yeah, for the record, I have no beef with anybody, I don't like beef, its bad for business. With that said, I want to let people know that there are a lot of artists, mostly rappers, that are getting away with murder just by having a hot beat but can't rap to save their life. I will be the one that will help take music to new levels, instead of dumbing it down to hot garbage.
